A Message from Your President…

Summer Time Is Here

Hi everyone! Now that it is summer, people are out doing activities and walking. Please drive slow and be careful when driving. More people are riding ATV’s now; ATVs must follow all speed limit signs, wear a helmet, drive safely, and have insurance and BLE sticker on it. If you do not have a sticker, you can see Sandy our security person for one. The lake is now open for swimming and someone in your party must have a beach tag. You need a beach tag if you are in or around the lake area, and Sandy will be checking for the tags. Enjoy your summer and be careful out there.                                                      Shawn Rudalavage, BLE President

A Message From Your Vice President…

It’s summertime…and the weather is starting to warm up nicely.   Many of us have spent countless hours in our yards and gardens and it shows.  I always gaze at the homes so beautifully landscaped with brightly colored flowers and realize there must be a lot of green thumbs in the neighborhood.  Nice job!

At the same time we are enjoying our beautiful community, many places around the world are experiencing horrific weather catastrophes.  Is your family prepared?  I would like to dedicate my article to disaster preparation for community members in the event of weather emergency.  Here is a basic Survival Kit your family will need for 24-48 hours.  Make sure everyone knows where it’s kept!  Here’s what to include:

Water-One gallon per person per day

Food- A three day supply on nonperishable items

            Can opener

            Extra clothing

            Battery-powered radio

            Flashlights and extra batteries

            First aid kit

            Sleeping bags

            Whistle (to signal for help)

            Prescription medications

Cash (ATM machines may not be working)

This is just a basic list.   You should cater it to your family’s needs.  And don’t forget to revisit your survival kit every year.  Medications may change or expire, food and batteries should be replaced, check items for cleanliness, dryness, or rust.  Children’s cloths may not fit after a year.

Be prepared.  A disaster could be one storm away.

Terry Fiandaca, BLE Vice President

A Message from the Secretary

Our treasurer’s term will be up this September. Bill Donovan notified the board that he will not be able to take on a board position for another term. Bill gave us the courtesy of informing us ahead of time, because there is some training involved with this position. If you possess any accounting or financial abilities please consider running for the treasurer board position. Remember that the community will run at its best potential with volunteers that can contribute some of their time.

We need residents to participate with task to keep our dues at the current rate. The dues are not going up right now; this is just a precautionary measure.

Ways you can help as residents to keep cost down so that committees do not go over budget:

1.   Volunteer to be a board member

2.   Volunteer to be on a committee

3.   Clean out drain areas in front of you home or property

4.   Paint letters on your street’s road signs (preferably white or yellow)

A Note from our Welcome Committee

I would like to welcome all New Residents to our great Beltzville Lake Estates Community and to wish each of you a Happy Summer! If you are a new neighbor and have not received a welcome packet from me in the past year, Please call me at 610-379-4007 and I will get in touch with you.

A Note from our Lake Committee

Thank you to Dave K, Dan T, and Joe F. for all of your help with assembling and launching the new floating dock in May.  Great job!  The T-dock will be under construction in June, please avoid the area when under construction!

The lake water quality is posted on-line on our calendar.  Go to www.beltzvillelakeestates.com to see the latest test results from the lab.  When the number is less than 235 for any test and less than 128 for any 4 test average the water is… okay!  Our test results are typically less than 15, but check our webpage to get the most current information.

The safety gear at the lake is for emergency use only.  If you remove it we have to replace it. If it's not there when we're inspected we'll have to pay a fine. Those costs come out of our operating budget...your dues!  The same is true for all community property.  Please help keep our costs down and take care of BLE!

Remember that if you're fishing at the lake you need to observe all PA fishing laws.  PA officials DO patrol our lake.  Boaters are not immune!  All boating regulations are enforced as well!  Beach tags are required when using the area around the lake.  One tag covers your group.

Want to know what events are happening at our lake?  Check the on-line calendar at www.beltzvillelakeestates.com.  The calendar link is on the newsletter!  Want to reserve the hospitality house?  The most up-to-date information is on the on-line calendar as well, plus, there is a link you can use to make your reservation or call Bill at 610-377-1082.

Have a safe summer!

Bill Meecham,

Lake Committee

FAMILY COMMITTEE ARTICLE

It’s that time of year again. The 2nd Annual Community (Family) Picnic is scheduled for next month. Spring Things

On April 16th Ginny Lachette hosted our “Spring’s Here” dinner.  An added touch was a drawing for lovely potted plants donated by Ginny, a nice remembrance of the season and of the pleasant evening.

Bill and Carol May were our May hosts on the 21st.  The theme was “Mexican Food,” and we certainly did have a fine assortment of tasty goodies, especially tacos with all the fixings.  All tables were full for this delicious event.
